Unidentified assassins shot and killed famed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in Mansa district a day after the state government revoked his security cover.

He was driving a Mahindra Thar SUV when the perpetrators, estimated to number in the tens of thousands, fired more than 20 shots at point-blank range at the musician and two pals, gravely hurting them.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mansa) Gobinder Singh, Moosewala, 27, was attacked while driving his jeep in Jawahar Ke village.

Moosewala was brought to the civic hospital dead, according to Dr. Ranjeet Rai, a civil surgeon in Mansa.

In 2022, Singh Shubhdeep Sidhu Moose Wala, commonly known as Sidhu Moosewala, ran for the Punjab Assembly from Mansa on a Congress ticket but lost to AAP’s Dr. Vijay Singla. On Twitter, sympathizers are expressing their condolences: Akhilesh Yadav is a politician from Uttar Pradesh.
