Then, he signed a four-year contract with Swiss Super League club Basel in June 2011 and debuted in his league on August 20, 2011, in the 3-1 away defeat against FC Luzern.

He won the League Championship title and the Swiss Cup with the club at the end of the 2011-2012 season.

In 2013, he was signed with FSV Mainz 05, and later in 2017, he joined Uslan Hyundai. He competed in the 2018 FIFA World Cup as a member of the national Korean soccer team but unfortunately, he had to leave the game halfway due to a hamstring rupture.
